    I Used Windows 3.1

I think it was 1992 when I got my 7 year old daughter an Acer 386 SX computer. It had 2 MB Ram and 65 MB on the HD.It had no CD Rom drive but I remember joining prodigy and getting on line.I had no clue as to what I was doing and it still shows today but as I remember, there were very few malware around and the computer hardly ever crashed.BTW It also had DOS 6.0 I think which I could NEVER get the hang of. I got a bargain on the system too.It was only $1600.00 then. Can you imagine what I could get today for that much money even with inflation.WOW !! I just wanted to share that with everyone.Thank you.Be Well & Stay Healthy.

OK, got me thinking... I started 'playing' with computers at my work, would have been around 1987/88 those where running DOS.

My first computer was an Atari 1040ST, which was kind of cool, having a 3.5" floppy drive when most of my friends where still struggling with a (cassette) tape drive or had a 5.25" floppy drive at best. Also had 1MB of memory when most of my friends had a Commodore 64 with just 64K.

The Atari's OS looked a bit like windows ;)

Next I got a 386DX40 PC, probably around 91/92, 4MB memory, 40 or 60MB hard drive and Windows 3.0 which was my first Windows version. When 3.11 was released I got that for free, attending a launch event with a friend of mine who ran his own (computer) company...

List dosn't go back far enough.

There were even earlier versions of Windows - I used Windows 1.0, which was essentially a glorified file managment/graphical menu system, since there weren't all that many windows applications.

I used DOS at work, 95 was my first Windows at home. No spam, no virus, trojans etc. in the good ? old days.

I started on a DOS system using Peachtext and a database program (name I can't remember). When Windows came out we were all excited.

My firs Windows experience was with 3.0. I started in computing with a thing called a Singer-Link GP4, which ran a Boeing 707 flight simulator. We also had Honeywell DDP-124s and a DDP-324.

All these things ran at 30Hz (not KHz or MHz). They were programmed in assembly language which was then assmbled into binary code for the actual running program. The Honeywells didn't do their own assembling, it was done elsewhere in the company. We sent punched cards across town and got a mag tape back with the assembled program on it.

I bought Win 3.0 toward the end of its cycle in order to get Win 3.1 free upgrade.
I got used to Win 3.0 and complained that 3.1 did not carry over some of the apps from 3.0. I particularly preferred the 3.0 file management util in 3.0 which was hamstrung in 3.1, the early version of Windows Explorer. But once Norton et al started coming out with file utils, I was a happy camper again.

Accidentally voted for Windows 95, but now recall that my first was Windows 98. Before that I used Apple computers only.

OMG! My first one was an HP 3.11. Kept calling dad long distance to help me with DOS commands! Was sooooooooo happy when Windows came out. Die hard DOS man dad still played with his QBasic for years before he finally succumbed to Windows. LOL. I keep a few floppies, 5.25, in my PC box just for kicks and still haven't gotten rid of the hard floppies in the fancy plastic storage cases. LOL. OMG! Does this make me old????
