    Welcome to BBS,

A bit more information is required. Is this an internal or external drive? Is it recently fitted? Make and model number of your PC? Anything you changed before the problem occured? If internal does it show in the bios?

Did this PC have Win 7 on it already or did you add it? When you go to the Device Manager does it show at all? Maybe with a yellow ? or ! beside it?

Did you use a DVD or CD to install Win 7? Most are DVD's now.

You have missed one of my quetions from post 2. Does the drive show in the bios? If it does not show in the bios it is either faulty or has a bad connection.

If it does show in the bios we can investigate further.

You need to look in "Standard Cmos Features" where you should see a list of drives which will include the hard drive and (hopefully) the DVD drive. In my Pheonix bios it is first in the list, it may be different in yours and there could be a variation in the heading.

My version is 6, hence big difference in the layout. I think what I have found will make sense. Under "Advanced" tab select "IDE Configuration" that should list your hard drive and cd drive.

The CD drive should also show under "Boot" tab as one of the "Boot Devices" first, second, third or fourth. It will not show as a USB device.

That only tells me you have changed the boot order. Is the drive listed under "IDE Configuration "

Unless I have been looking at details of a different bios The IDE Config is under the Advanced tab as per my post 16. Either way somewhere in your bios will be a list of IDE devices which will include your hard drive and the CD drive if it is functional and properly connected.
