Looks like I am one of those still running IE6. I did not realize it had been that long ago that it was the new kid on the block. Anyway I need some help as to upgrade to IE7.
    *****************************
First off where do I find the download for IE7.
Does it overlay IE6 and store IE6 someplace just in case things go haywire?
Do I need to save anything from IE6 such as My Favorites etc.?
As you can tell I have no idea where to begin to upgrade. I installed IE6 when I got the new computer four years ago and my system is working just fine (for me) so I don't know what an upgrade will improve.
Any help will be appreciated in the above matters. I use XP with IE6. I also have the latest version of Opera installed to use when I get tired of IE. I do not want to upgrade to IE8 as I have not heard anything good about this.

Hi msbooch. When you upgrade to IE7 or IE8 you will be able to keep your favorites. If you are nervous about losing them then back them up. If something were to go haywire then you can uninstall IE7/IE8 from Control Panel< Add/Remove Programs which will then restore IE6.

I would highly recommend that you upgrade to IE8 instead of IE7 because IE8 is more secure than IE7 is and has more features. Its also a bit more user friendly. I have used IE8 on dozens of computers and haven't had any problems. If you want to use IE7 instead of IE8 then thats your choice.

    Download Internet Explorer 7.

    Download Internet Explorer 8.

Where did you hear that IE8 wasn't good to use?

IE 7 is nearly 3 years old now (released Oct 2006), so I would recommend getting IE8, assuming you run at least Windows XP SP2.

Please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions!

You heard IE8 is not a good choice from me.When I bought my Dell Latitude D610 laptop with 2GB memory in Feb 2009,it had IE7 on it and was running like a racehorse. In March 2009,I was "selected" to improve IE. I installed IE8 (RC),nothing but problems since.Sometime in June 2009 I installed the latest version of Firefox (3.5 RC). My prized racehorse returned. I don't know what the problem with IE8 was,the worst thing was I couldn't even uninstall it. I'm a Microsoft fan, currently running XP Pro SP3. They should have produced a better product. Hopefully the competition will wake them up.

As has been mentioned before, some Anti Virus program(s) may not be compatible with IE8 (in this case it turned out to be Avast).

I'm running Avast on all my systems, they all run IE8 too, but then again, I run Windows 7, not Vista or XP.
