I havent gotten to really play yet but I was impressed that vista installed the drivers for me on my system sound and ethernet. On my XP I would have to get out my resource cd and start extracting.

Most folks will recommend a clean install over an upgrade - just too many issues with incompatible apps and settings.

Very sound advice. No need to jump if XP works for you.

I upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Vista Ultimate. I did an in-place-upgrade with Vista about 2 days ago. It took quite a long time to install. I have tested Windows Vista and played around with some of the new features. I uninstalled some incompatible software that didn't agree with Vista and installed new drivers for my hardware. So far I havent had any major problems with upgrading to Vista. :) I guess I am lucky because I have heard that a lot of people are having problems with installing Vista. Right now though I feel like a total computer novice when it comes to Vista. Microsoft changed a lot of stuff in Vista and I find that its harder to get around in Vista. :( It was a lot simpler to get around in XP but I guess I will have to get used to the new UI in Vista. It took me about 3 years to learn all the tricks and tweaks of Windows XP so it will take probably a long time to learn all of the nifty features in Vista. Anyway thanks again for everyones help in answering all of my questions about Vista. Good luck to those people who decide to install Vista in the next year or so. :D I hope you guys have a successful install of Vista. ;)

Most of the old "tricks" are still there - just in different places.

Try the Easy Search function (click once on Start then start typing). For example, to launch Windows Explorer you can type explorer.exe and press enter.
