From the (Resolved) thread called Service Pack Removal ...

Are those deleted files and folders completely removed, or do they go to the Recycle Bin?

Am I able to save them on an external drive, for example, in case I remove a file I later discover I shouldn't have?

Hi marksierra, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Once you remove the Windows Update backup files using the Windows XP Update Remover then those updates that you removed will be deleted from your system. I don't think those files will be sent to the Recycle Bin first.

You can manually back up those Windows Update uninstall folders if you want to before using that program that I linked to here Service Pack Removal.

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.
