I've tried everything I know to restore the ability to safely remove hardware on my pc. I'm running windows 7/ 64 bit. When I right click on the taskbar>properties> then in notification area, click on 'customize', the next window that comes up is 'Notification Area Icons'. The problem is that I'm not able to highlight anything in that window or check or uncheck anything under the 'behavior' column because it is all grayed out. Also there is no 'Safely Remove Hardware icon to select or unselect. AND there is no arrow in the taskbar that would allow me to customize any icons. There are some icons in the notifications taskbar, I just can't add the one(s) I want.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
