it's a kinda very annoying error as everything i have tried so far has gone in vein. so here is the issue: whenever i m trying to open pogo games in aol 9.0, i get an error message from Microsoft visual c++ runtime library that the application has encountered a problem and needs to be closed. however if i do not click on OK message, the game still opens behind the message. the moment i click on ok, aol shuts down and tries to reconnect itself. here are the unsuccessful steps that i have taken:
    1) checked my system for any virus and removed them.
    2) installed windows registry cleaner and cleaned up the registry.
    3) restored the system.
    4) uninstalled all java versions and installed latest one java 6 update 23.
    5) uninstalled aol9.0 through add/remove programs and reinstalled.
    6) stopped ddlcmd.exe from the startup.

please help me to getrid of this error

Please also try to use the game in Internet Explorer 8 and/or Firefox and see if you get the same problem.

If you know how to switch off add-ons in AOL9 please try it.

In Internet Explorer 8 you can switch off add-ons like this in Windows 7.

Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Internet Explorer (No Add-ons).

I am having the same problem since updating to Java 23. I have XP and IE 8. Today I downloaded a new version of AOL -- ugh! I continue to get the runtime error and have now sent a very complex and complete message to Pogo threatening to quit my membership. My laptop had problems last week but we were able to correct it after several hours -- it never had a runtime error but it's also on Vista.

I'm already running at Top Speed. We've jumped through tons of hoops in the last couple of days, similar to all of the steps stated above.

I'll post any Good Answers from Pogo if they come along. Thanks for any other assistance.

OK. Answer from EA Support/Pogo worked! I won't copy their answer here because my particular solution may not work for your situation. But, they recommended that I reinstall Java 22. That, of course, involves uninstalling past versions of Java and 23 as well. I might have tried to reinstall 22 on my own but couldn't figure out the best way to do that. If you think that fix will work for you, here is a website that might get you there:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

Please send your comments/complaints into Pogo if you are having this problem. In my estimation, they need to know the magnitude of these problems. Pogo is expensive and any upgrades that interface with that program should be relatively smooth and without interruption.

    Good luck.

That is usefull for anyone else with the same problem, thank you for posting the information.

Be good to hear from Wandakaras and Sumitruhela to know if that resolution worked for them.
