    OK.
Your processor is little bit slow, but there is not much, you can do here.
However, you can get another 512MB of RAM (your motherboard permitting) and your computer will feel much, much better.

Are you suggesting 512MB of RAM assuming I have one stick of 512 in there already (I believe you always want to be paired, right)? Would it make sense to by a pair of 1GB sticks or is that overkill for my machine? What do I need to check in order to make sure I add the correct memory? Will I need to open up the computer case or can I somehow check through Windows?

    Thanks.

It all depends on what your motherboard will take. 1GB for XP is plenty and you already have 512MB installed.
Go here: http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx to find out, what you can get.

    Hi pjschman

As this is no longer a malware issue you may be better posting your questions in the Hardware forum.

Before you do so if you take the time to complete your system specifications it will help in answering your questions.

If this is your main system it would be helpful if you add your system details to your profile. Please click on the link and follow those instructions it could save some time when resolving this or further issues.

A common error is to forget to show your system details in your profile

If you do add your system specifications be sure to do the above :)
