I ran Chrome all day yesterday without issue. I woke this morning thinking, great - life can return to normal  but alas, I opened it, made it my default browser again and poof :( same problems returned.

I really don't think it likes me... :p back to Fx

Try the Google Software Removal Tool (SRT), still in beta, needs Admin rights.

    https://www.google.com/chrome/srt/

When you open SRT, it starts searching.
SRT will tell you how many programs it found.
    Click Remove suspicious programs.
Wait until you see "Removal complete. "
Open apps may be closed by the process.
Click Continue to quit the tool.
(If needs reboot, the button will say Restart.)
Chrome will open, asking to reset browser. Click Reset.

Google doesn't say what this tool actually does, and SRT does not list names of the programs it finds. You'll only see the number of programs detected, if any. If none, just cancel out.

I know it took a while however, I upgraded to Win 10 and found the issue remained, I then did a clean install of the OS and Chrome does not appear to be presenting any issues at this point (2 weeks in).

    Thanks for all contributions
