    In a nutshell, I don't know what I'm doing. :p

I saw that the mobo was capable of handling 2133, and didn't even consider the CPU (which I didn't even get until later) might not have been able to handle it.

Don't stress to much about it, like I said it might have absolutely nothing to do with Ram, so take that into consideration before you go spending extra money. I am sure one of the other much more experienced guys here will come up with some solution.

Neil, good link I didn't know AMD where selling RAM for the FX CPU's, very interesting indeed.

Something else just sprung to mind, when you Formatted did you reboot your computer after each game installed.

I never did install them on the same day, but keep in mind I just reformatted and Steam is already acting up. And while reinstalling drivers and stuff a reboot was pretty much required after each one.

If memory doesn't fix the issue then it'll rule that out too. It is one of the possibilities that's been weighing on me the most since all this started, and quite frankly I'll be glad to put the axe to it. Mind you I thought I had damaged memory, not incompatible...

Well, it doesn't seem to be the memory either. 4GB of 1600 and it's still happening.

Just curious, are there any critical listings in Event Viewer? If so, they may give clues...

Hi Zerahn, If your motherboard is the Asus M5A97 R2.0, I would sincerely suggest you read the Manual that accompanied your M/B. Page ix . Memory explains what is needed.
Pages 8 thru 13 in Section 1 give you all the info you need to know regarding the QVL on RAM.
Your 2133 MHz RAM is in OC (overclocking) area. As I read it - adjustments may be needed.
There is a paragraph on 1-9 dealing with stability and possibly the need to refer to section 3.4 Ai Tweaker Menu. Also more efficient cooling may be required for the RAM.
As I used to drum into the Auto Techs in my prior life,R T M.
Asus M5A97LE or EVO boards may be different. As in my System Details my M/B is the R2.0 model. Neil.

No critical listings, no. I dug through the event log after a program crash and the only one that was new was one telling me about the popup stating the program crashed.

Hi guy's can one of you explain exactly what that means it is a section of Zerhans crash dump:

    SYMBOL_NAME: memory_corruption!vstdlib_s

    FOLLOWUP_NAME: MachineOwner

    MODULE_NAME: memory_corruption

    IMAGE_NAME: memory_corruption

    DEBUG_FLR_IMAGE_TIMESTAMP: 0

    STACK_COMMAND: dt ntdll!LdrpLastDllInitializer BaseDllName ; dt ntdll!LdrpFailureData ; ~0s; .ecxr ; kb

    FAILURE_BUCKET_ID: MEMORY_CORRUPTION_LARGE_c0000005_memory_corruption!vstdlib_s

    BUCKET_ID: APPLICATION_FAULT_MEMORY_CORRUPTION_INVALID_POINTER_READ_LARGE_memory_corruption!vstdlib_s

I am not trying to read something into it, as I don't know how to interpret those dumps. But they do keep saying Memory_Corruption
What does it exactly mean in relation to Zerahn's problems.

I have exactly the motherboard listed in my system specs. M5A97. No R2.0, no LE, no EVO, etc. And with the BIOS settings all on default/auto, and a 1600mHz RAM stick slotted, I get the same crash error. Yes, I took out the 2133s. Yes, I read the post. Yes, I read the manual.

Have you updated the BIOS to the latest version ? The latest version as per ASUS is M5A97 BIOS 1605.

I would also recommend that you download the drivers from ASUS & install them. Don't install the drivers that Win update gives you.

My BIOS is updated to version 1605. I have the latest version of my graphics card driver as well. (14.4) I also tried letting it use generic drivers, that didn't help either. I downloaded all the most recent drivers from the asus website. (except, of course, the graphics card, which i got from their site)

Going by those links, it appears that only Steam and Warframe are the problems. It makes no sense to conclude that "games and launchers have major problems for people using windows 7" based on three threads (only one of which mentions the error I'm actually getting, and this by someone other than the OP) describing problems with one launcher and a game that works fine for me.

Let me recap what I've done, in no particular order:
Updated my BIOS to the latest version
Reformatted my hard drive four times, once with 32-bit Windows 7 just for something to do
Swapped out the video card during a complete reformat of my system
    Swapped out RAM and PSU
Made sure BIOS settings were default/auto for each set of RAM
Updated all drivers to the latest obtained from the m/b manufacturer's website
Updated video card driver to the latest obtained from the manufacturer's website
Installed all "important" Windows updates and several optional ones related to stability

Are hardware issues this consistent? Or is it only drivers and possibly software that have this level of consistency?

The only three constants in the above scheme things are :

    1. CPU
    2. Motherboard
    3. Hard disk

Since your problems started when you changed your motherboard, it looks like the culprit here. Any chance you can get it changed ?

Yeah, i guess i could do that. For the sake of cost effectiveness, would this board work as a test? I was reading that you can underclock RAM, it has the PCIe x16 slot for my video card, and will take an FX CPU. Plus SATA...

    http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135349&cm_re=am3+-_-13-135-349-_-Product

Its main attraction is that it's cheap. If it works, I'll know it was the mobo, and I can potentially get a better one later if I really feel the need. If it doesn't, well I won't have wasted that much money on the endeavor.

Your motherboard should be in warranty. Any chance you can get it replaced under warranty ?

There's something I never thought of. For some reason I thought the warranty was like 1 year. I'm looking into that now. Thanks.

    c0000005 error multiple programs affected

In regards to the following thread, which is now closed:

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/windows-7/108073-c0000005-error-multiple-programs-affected.html

The error turned out to be my hard drive. I don't know how or why, maybe someone else can explain that (it's a 3TB, and I had to use AMD's DiskUnlocker on it), but copying the affected games/programs to an external drive allowed them to execute just fine, and picking up a new hard drive (1TB, for the record) seems to have cleared everything up. Thank you so much to everyone who tried to help me out with this issue.
