Running computer HP Presario CQ5115uk in Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, checking at random during a computer session, MSE displays screen that computer is running unprotected. On clicking MSE scan icon, it checks computer and put computer in protected mode. A random check with MSE, 4 out 5 shows as protected. Anyone experienced this error? and what was the cause, myself think CCleaner is at fault.
Other software narrowed down to MalwareByte, Spybot and SpywareBlaster though latter two titles only used once, but all titles installed.

FWIW ... None of my 7 computers, (5 with Windows 7), exhibit that behaviour. All 7 are running MSE, CCleaner, MalwareBytes and SpwareBlaster. The only thing I don't have, (or want), is Spybot Search and Destroy.

I am still experiencing a fault error with MS Security Essentials, as random check shows MSE is in unprotected mode. MalwareByte shows no infections. Unfortunately as record shows an unknown sotware installed is changing MSE working without altering MSE visual settings. As an additional safeguard I switch off my modem when not using a Web session.

You have been asked multiple times to post the required logs in the Malware forum. That's what's needed.

I still hope someone will be able to shed some light in soving this malfunction. Ofcourse this malfunction, most probably applies to myself only and has no remedy.

Before running a Malware check, I wouldn't look any further.

Malwarebyte has been run several times, especially after MSE reports computer not protected. Each time Malwarebyte is run, it shows a clean bill of health.

    That doesn't mean anything!

You'll need to run all the recommended tools & post their log files as explained.

It is not helpful marking a thread as [Resolved] when you never followed instructions to actually get to the bottom of your problem.

I fully agree in what you say, however as an 81 year old member, my computer skills are becoming more demanding and rely entirely on the younger members in helping me as in this case. Thank you for your interest shown.

Like Arie says, the fact that a malware scanner shows nothing is irrelevant. I've found in the past that the some scanners will pick things up that other scanners will miss and vice versa.

But its the log files that are produced by the scanners that are important. Broni, the Malware expert round these parts needs the log files to see what's there and from there determine the best way forward.

Getting rid of malware isn't always as easy as running one specific scanner. There's no silver bullet when it comes to malware removal. If there was, we'd all be using it......

Really, there's no skills needed to follow the steps 1 by 1 as outlined. Has nothing to do with age.
