I am running a Gateway desktop with Windows 7 Home Premium and 6 GB ddr3 ram. I have run all security scans with nothing showing(AVG, MWB, Spybot and Windows security Essentials)
Every several days, when I am working on my system, it just shuts down and restarts. (a very brief bsod I think) This is a 2 year old system, so I don't really suspect power issues. I go to the event viewer, but don't know how to translate it. Can anyone help me with troubleshooting? Thanks

Looks to me you're using an English OS, so I doubt a translation is involved

You can double click on any error for more details, and there is also a button to copy the error to your clipboard for easy copying & pasting.

Find the last error just before the reboot occurred, that could give you a clue.

Have a look & see if your system created a dump file. If so, follow these instructions to post a Dump Data Log.

If you do not have a dump, ensure that your machine is configured to write out a dump by following the directions from microsoft

Thanks very much for the responses. I will clean the cpu fan.
Arie, when I wrote "translate" I just meant I didn't have a clue what is was telling me. I have not monitored which program I selected when the dump happened, but I will next time.
This is some of the logs from event viewer:
Session "Microsoft Security Client OOBE" stopped due to the following error: 0xC000000D

The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR1.

Activation context generation failed for "c:\program files\microsoft security client\MSESysprep.dll ".Error in manifest or policy file "c:\program files\microsoft security client\MSESysprep.dll" on line 10. The element imaging appears as a child of element urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1^assembly which is not supported by this version of Windows.

I get this: Internet Explorer has stopped working.
    This is the error:

Start by testing your memory. Run Memtest86 or Windows Memory Diagnostic.

Windows 7 DVD also includes a memory testing option called Windows Memory Diagnostic which can be accessed by booting off your Windows DVD, choosing your language/keyboard options, and clicking the link Repair your computer at the bottom left on the Install Now screen. When prompted select your Windows Installation and click Next, here you can select the Windows Memory Diagnostic option.

    Please note:

To work around the above, test the installed RAM in various configurations. If you have a single module, swap it around the slots. If you have a pair of modules, run each one singly, swapping between slots; and then run them in pairs swapping between pairs of slots. If you have 2 sets of matched modules do not get them mixed up.

I have taken the system down and blew the dust off of the processor heat sink and all fans. I ran memtest 86 for 45 minutes with no errors. I still went in and reseated all 4 modules and since that was done, it has not re-booted (about 14 hours)
I still am getting this error constantly: "Internet Explorer has stopped working "
I don't even have a browser open at the time. Event viewer doesn't show anything under applicatiobs. What do you think now?

Raises eyebrows, perhaps a malware checkup is appropriate?

Read this post, then post the requested log(s) in the Malware and Virus Removal forum.

I thought the same a week ago, so...I ran my malwarebytes, Spybot, AVG and Microsoft security Essentials. They only found a couple of Ad Clicks, etc.
BUT, I will follow your suggestions and reply...Thanks
