Internet Explorer 8 64 bit - running Windows 7 64 bit. IE8 causes computer to restart.Sometimes when first opened and sometimes when going to a different site. I tried all the fix's I've found on the net and nothing has worked. I'm running Firefox but would rather run IE 8

Have you tried running IE8 without addons?

You would be well advised to run IE8 32 bit - no real advantage in 64 bit especially as ActiveX not generally available for 64 bit.

Since it is causing a "restart ", there may be some evidence listed in the event viewer. Look there and see if there is anything listed - there should be something.

I would look at your dump files as well. Even though you are not seeing a blue screen when the system restarts there may be something there to look at.
