    Logging onto websites

The problem started after I was finally able to remove Internet Explorer 8. Now I'm running IE 7.

Not a wise move to go back to IE7. It is far less secure than IE8.

What was the reason you went back?

I'd suggest checking for Malware first:

Read this post, then post the requested log(s) in the Malware and Virus Removal forum.

I went back to IE 7 because I didn't want to risk downloading IE 8 again and messing up my computer again. When I originally downloaded IE 8, I found that I coudn't pull up my Favorites, add a website to my favorites, download any antivirus program, print anything from the internet or get into my Internet Options. I would click on the Internet Options tab and nothing would happen. So I tried to remove IE 8 and the computer wouldn't let me. I finally was able to remove it after asking several people how I could do it. Now, I'm able to do everything again as normal except being able to log into any website, so can you tell me what the problem might be?

As Arie posted above you should eliminate malware as a possible cause.

    From which site?

IE 9 is beta software - I would not recommend installing it until it is released next year.

Note: it is not compatible with XP

What is the problem with following Arie's advice of checking for malware??

How do I check for malware and remove it, is there a free program I can download in order to accomplish this?

You haven't answered this question, and please note ....

We encourage all members to complete their System Specifications which help us to help you :) I don't think you have even mentioned your OS.

You would be strongly advised to follow Arie's advice, repeated below .....

Read this post, then post the requested log(s) in the Malware and Virus Removal forum.

which is far better than a DIY approach.

First, I was referring to Windows BBS.com website to download IE 9 beta, sorry, but I think you already answered my question on that. That IE 9 beta is not officially out yet and downloading it from anywhere else would be harmful to my computer?, got it. So will the above mentioned antivirus programs eliminate viruses, adware and malware? Oh, my OS is Windows XP.

IE9 will not be compatible with XP in any form - beta or RTM (final release).

If you go to the Malware & Virus Removal forum as indicated above and post the logs requested you will have an experienced Malware Analyst on your case - on a one to one basis.
