Hello all, I hope your Christmas went well.

    I've been running IE8 since it's release, it's recently developed a fault.

It is very slow to load any page, the progress meter takes an age to complete, the webpage does not always stay blank until it is fully downloaded - it's worth pointing out that during this 'hang' time there is no network/internet activity. I have tried google Chrome and found that there are no such issues with it. I've also:

    Run Avast Antivirus
    Run Superantispyware
    Run Adaware
    Run Ccleaner
    Then reinstalled IE8
After reading this forum I've also disabled all addons, then reboot and tried again.

I know the answer for some of you would be that I should just avoid using IE all together, but I'd rather stick to what I know.

    Any ideas?

Does this happen on EVERY web page you go to...Or does it only happen on sites that might be having their own issues?

    Two things you should try:

    1. Start IE8 with No add-ons
    2. Reset IE8 to default conditions.

Not all websites, but about 90 percent of all visited. Clicking "Submit Post" on any forum for example results in a delay of about 30 seconds or more before I'm redirected to my post.

Forums I frequent are very quick on other computers I have access to, on the same network.

I've tried without add ons and resetting, no difference I'm afraid.

Install Firefox and see, if you have same issues.
That will tell us, if it's IE issue, or something else.

    How did you reset?

Also, have you tried booting in Safe mode with networking and checked IE there?

Have you tried deleting Temporary Internet Files?

I used the reset function available on the advanced tab in "Internet Options" - Although it shouldn't really matter since I reinstalled IE8 anyway.

I just tried Safe mode with networking - no different.

Deleted Temporary Internet Files - no different.

When you say, you uninstalled IE8, it surely reverted itself to IE7.
Do you have same problems with IE7?

No mate, I reinstalled IE8, didn't uninstall it. The installation package from MS removes the current installation and installs a new one in one process.

Good idea though, I'll see if I can find IE7 now.

Ok, so I downloaded IE7. Removed IE8 first then installed IE7. Still the same.

I run Google Chrome side by side with IE7, clicking on the same link more or less immediately for each program. Chrome loaded INSTANTLY, I'm still waiting for IE7.....
