I've downloaded both but am hesitant to install both until I hear from others that there is no conflict between them. Does anyone have any first-hand experience in this?

Not a problem installing both Super Anti-Spyware and MalwareBytes MBAM but you would be well advised to disable any resident scanners and run "on-demand" scans only.

Are there resident scanners in the free versions of these malware programs? I'm unaware of any.

Ah... I see from right clicking the icon in the sys tray that I can enable Superantispyware's real time protection so I guess that answers my own question. Thanks, guys.

Real time protection is offered only in paid versions.
If you have free version, neither of two programs should be a startup.
Systray icon tells me, Superantispyware is running its service (unnecessarily).

Okay... so if I understand you correctly, there should be no issues with running both programs in their free versions since neither have real time protection in that version. Correct?

    Kind of ...........

What Broni was trying to distinguish were the limits on the free versions re: real time scanning and he went on to distinguish that these programs should be configured so they aren't starting up with windows. The SuperAntiSpyware icon in your taskbar was a dead giveaway that you were configured so it was running at startup and as Broni pointed out, an unnecessary service was running.

That's what I was trying to impart in my first post when advising running on-demand only. No matter how its said, One doesn't want all of this "extra" stuff running in the background. All of these programs have their intracacies but one can usually go to options or properties within each program's own menu structure and disable start program when windows starts. It's buried a little deeper in some offerings and other applications in this category run services whether the program starts with Windows or not. In my opinion, these are the ones to avoid altogether.

    ;)

Thanks. I've disabled that through the preferences.
