My computer won't download many files. I have no problem downloading .rar or .zip files, but with anything else the downloads are automatically canceled.

I've completely turned off my Firewall, uninstalled my Anti-Virus, turned off my anti-spyware and anti-adware. I've tried using multiple browsers [Mozilla, Chrome, IE] But no luck.

    I can't even download a new anti-virus or drivers.
If it asks to save the file, I'll hit Save File. The downloads window comes up and said file download is canceled. I'll retry, and it does nothing.
Even when it says it's downloaded the file, it's no where.

    Help?

edit: I run Windows XP HomeEdition.

You can try resetting IE to its default Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab > Reset (at the bottom of the tab)

Or you could just reset the Security settings under the Security Tab.

Otherwise I would suggest reading this post and posting requested logs in this forum

I'm glad you got it resolved.

I'm not really sure why but occasionally settings get changed by programs or even updates or just a miss click somewhere.

Just make sure your updates are current and your antivirus program is up-to-date, that's always the first line of defense.

And, if one of the experts pops by maybe she or he (ladies first always) can provide a more definitive answer.
