How expensive is it to purchase from TigerDirect and ship to Scotland . I never received or had any problems with their Software disks. Every Windows OS disk was a Genuine OEM MS product that was new and undamaged. Complete with COA and product key.

With the exchange rate if adhered too by TigerDirect is £70, this is similar to Amazon price but not guaranteed as they mostly use other firms that can cause the trouble with genuine Microsoft product as Amazon fails to check liability of these firms, plus that you do not know in advance who these firms are. So far, I can not find out from TigerDirect the shipment cost, other than go through a complete "checkout" procedure. I certainly appreciate your recommendation, as reviews read can not be taken other than a guide, thanks.

    Have you confirmed this?

There are programs available to check the integrity of CDs & DVDs.

Hi Bobby, I purchased my W7 Pro SP1 64 bit DVD from Ebay UK.
    This was supplied by aclassproducts@hotmail.com.
It cost me $70.00 NZ and was sent from the UK to NZ in 7 days.
It's marked as a Reinstallation DVD and labelled DELL.
I had no trouble installing on a fresh HDD and activation by MS was not a problem (on line activation as normal).
It came complete with instructions in great detail and the MS Product Key was provided and attached to a card headed Certificate of Authenticity and the COA stated it was OEM.
Why don't you contact them and see if they can supply or have a look in Ebay UK. Neil.

Thanks Bobby I did not know that is how it was done by TigerDirect. Neil, DOH! I forgot all about eBay. Nice one.

Gentlemen, that is exactly the main complaint by the reviewers that I read, DVD as new but re-badged. Other complaint was that the activation code was so small, in fact one said the smalled bar code he ever came across, where "Gs" turned out to be "6s" and "Bs" as "8s ". Well reading this, with my failing sight, I will be in deep trouble. TigerDirect appears to be a reliable firm but I have never heard of them or dealt with.

I have bought tons of stuff from them and never had a problem. They are big here on this side of the pond.

Mr Bill, thanks for your recommendations. I read today in Computer Magazine that Microsoft is releasing Windows 10 on the 29th July 2015 priced at £78 $117 (about the same price as Windows 7 Home Premium). It however not mention if its a download or on DVD. At the price, it may be best to wait for Windows 10 and install on a clean HD, not sure what is best and who will be selling the OEM.

Bobby, the COA's are always small and require good eyesight. I use magnifying glasses to help me decipher the figures correctly.
My Dell W7 Pro SP1 64bit has been OK'ed for the Free W10 install as it's a legitimate OS. :) Neil.

    Thanks, Neil.

I'll probably stay with 7 till the bitter end for now. I have no doubt that Redmond will be getting an earful form disgruntled 10 users in the future, so it be interesting to see how this plays out.

I fully agree, as a friend of mine told me years ago, to wait six months after a new product is put on the market, as it is sure faults will arise and require rectification. I have a point, that if firms like TigerDirect will not answer an e-mail, then they are not worth dealing with.

I found over the years of dealing with TigerDirect. It's easier to call them in order to get answers from them than it is to get them to answer an email. The reason they answer the phone more readily is that there is more of a chance for a potential sale than there is from an email.

I can understand in what you say, but it will then apply in cases of items not being correct. Phone calls from the UK, especially a long conversation will be very expensive and not an incentive to shop with them, but it is entirely up to me to decide. In a shopping mall, I enquired why no seats were available to shoppers. Reply was, the Mall was for shopping, not for sitting.

That is why I don't go to the mall.

    Check this site out, Bobby...

You can get a long distance calling card for as little as 10 USD, or at least that is what we pay.

I'll let you know as I will eagerly await my W10 free upgrade.

Bit of a poor attitude with shopping malls if seats aren't provided for stressed shoppers, old age pensioners with disabilities and hubbies waiting for wife to empty the wallet.
At least in the Southern Hemisphere we do have seating in malls. Neil.

As I am still undecided in purchasing Windows 7 Professional, decided to have a further check on what is on offer. Senetic.com, offers an un-opened genuine copy of Windows 7 Pro. for £113 (including VAT £11, shipment £8.60),$170. Considering that Windows 10 is being offered on the 29/07/2015, price for the Pro. version will no doubt be higher taking VAT+Shipment added to the asking price. I will be most interested to read the members views.
