Yes. I removed the side panel for the tower and inspected the memory modules. They are both seated correctly. I booted from dvd with a Memtest86 iso, and the memory modules passed the first pass test.

I was able to make copies of the DMP files.

Thank you for the quick reply.

Your #5 BSOD was caused by AVG - I suggest you remove it using the Removal Tool listed here and re-install.

As for the other dump files run them through our Dump Data Collection Tool and post the logs here.

    Please note ....

I was only able to remove AVG in safe mode with networking. I used AVG 2014 Remover 32-bit and saved the logs. There were a few errors shown the AVG Remover window: system error 1060 is the only one I could catch.

Even in safe mode the computer reboots itself. I installed Microsoft Security Essentials two days ago after uninstalling AVG 2014 using Add/Remove in windows xp. The computer still shuts down after a few minutes of use. I noticed that when there was no Antivirus program that the computer would not shutdown in safe mode.

I will post the results of the dump file search.

I attempted to install the debugging tool for windows and it couldn't finish with the installation.

    The error is as follows:

A problem occurred while installing selected Windows SDK components.

Installation of the "Microsoft Windows SDK for Windows 7" product has reported the following error: Please refer to Samples\Setup\HTML\ConfigDetails.htm document for further information.

Please attempt to resolve the problem and then start Windows SDK setup again. If you continue to have problems with this issue, please visit the SDK team support page at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=130245.

Click the View Log button to review the installation log.
    To exit, click Finish.

The Setup log is as follows:

This could be due to overheating - check that the fans are running and check out the processor temps with Speccy free version from the piriform URL. Post the temps as shown below .....

You posted the log while I posted the above - I'll see if I can interpret that tomorrow.

I tried running Speccy in safe mode with networking. The following popup appeared: CPU dll init failed (error 2)! Some information will not be displayed.

Update:I managed to boot windows xp normally. Every time I open a program the computer closes it and then shutsdown on its own. I tried installing the windows SDK debugging tool setup and a popup appeared saying .net framework not installed. I opened add/remove and .net frameworks are installed.

Speccy results normal boot: for temperature (i saved text version of all results from speccy for future reference):
    Motherboard KM266-8235 (Socket A) 40 °C
    Graphics EN-775e (1024x768@60Hz) 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 6200 (PNY) 51 °C

Thank you for any advice in advance.

Having looked at the SDK install log, very little of which means anything to me, I assume that you were connected to the internet when installing as this is a web installer?

Best I can suggest is to empty all your temp files, check in Add/Remove for reference to SDK and uninstall if present and start over.

Puzzled as to why the CPU .dll failed to initiate although the Piriform forums have (unresolved) threads on the subject.

While your mobo and graphics card temps are fine it would be good to know the CPU temp. Try ....

    Core Temp

Overheating does not appear to be an issue - 40C is absolutely fine :) BTW TCase Max is a fixed value determined by the CPU manufacturer and is the temp at which an overheat error will be displayed or the computer shut down.

Checking the general causes of the Error codes noted in your first post they are a mix of software/hardware induced errors.

It should be possible to stop the computer restarting when a program is opened and show the blue screen instead on which the error message will be displayed and possibly the file that caused the issue. Set up the computer not to automatically restart on System failure .....

Start > Control Panel > System > Advancrd > Startup and Recovery - Settings

Under System Failure uncheck Automatically restart - the default setting is checked.

Leave the other 2 boxes checked.

Post the details from the blue screen - if it appears when you try to start a program.

On the hardware side you have checked the memory with memtest on a single pass. This does not necessarily mean that the memory is OK .....
Another hardware issue could be the Power Supply Unit (PSU) - I'm not going to suggest that you substitute it with another at this stage as Dell uses non propriety PSU's which are expensive. Instead please use Speccy to show the motherboard voltages and post the values here. Speccy > click on Motherboard in the column to the left (screenshot).

The voltage readings seem to be OK although the -12v is rather high at -13.696, but whether or not that would cause an issue I'm not sure.

The next time you get a BSOD the info required is only the stop error code and, if a file is noted below that, the file name.

If you have a digital camera snap the BSOD screen and post on Image Shack as you did before, with the URL here.

As the computer is quite old one further hardware check is in order .....

Open the case and look for bulging or leaking capacitors on the motherboard - some guidance as to what you are looking for here

I removed both RAM Chips, 1GB and 512MB. I installed the 1GB and booted up the computer. No BSOD. I then removed the 1GB and replaced it with the 512MB. Again no BSOD. I proceeded to install both ram chips and boot the computer. There was no errors or BSOD.

There is no bulging or leaking capacitors.

I did run OTL, DDs, HijackThis, and windows built-in check disk. I managed to view the dump files using BlueScreenView v1.52 Copyright (c) 2009 - 2013 Nir Sofer, I could post those logs, if they could share some light on what caused the BSOD and windows has recovered from a serious system error messsage.

Thank you for your advice and patience.

Looks like the hardware side is checking out OK.

By all means post the BlueScreenView data, but ONLY ....

    Crash Time
    Bug Check Code
    Caused by ...

Any further BSOD's since your last post?

No BSOD's as of yet. Before checking the RAM manually, I did run windows update and downloaded/installed the optional drivers for Nvidia graphics card, and some others that I cant remember.

The fact that no more BSOD's have occurred as yet is welcome news :)

The BSOD's listed above are somewhat past history, but you have taken remedial action for a couple of them ....
    Caused by AVG
    nVidia display driver.

The hall.dll BSOD's suggest a hardware issue, probably outside the scope of the checking made to date.

Please wait until the PC BSOD's again and post the info before we go any further.

In the meantime I have asked for support from the WindowsBBS Team Members for a fresh view on the problem.
