When went to reactivate , AVG was already installed, there is no taskbar and no icons on the desktop upon reboot. No other antivirus software exists. Went to the Walling support ticket with no response can someone suggest hoe I get my desktop and taskbar to return. OUCH this hurts!

Can you try starting in safemode and see if that helps?

A couple of questions if you don't mind...

What Operating System are you using?

What do you mean by "Went to the Walling support ticket with no response "?

    Confusing !!

    Confuses me too here!
Is there a complete blackout or does start menu still function ?
Thumbs up, indeed try safe mode first.AVG does not cause things like these, I have used for many years!

    Up and running

Everything seems to be in order, had to remove a threat which I believed caused the event to occur. Got a response from Walling Data (AVG) they basically confirmed It is likely the updates are being blocked by a spyware threat. mentioned to go to http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe , didn't go to it. I removed all spyware in safe mode reinstalled AVG 30 day trial then reactivated using my new key. All seems to be fixed.
I appreciate all the advice , never experienced the disappearing desktop and task bar

    Hi Joey,

It's looking ok but I'd still be concerned with malware if it were my computer.

It's you choice obviously but I'd read this and post the logs in the Malware and Virus Removal forum. I should add that the people in that forum can be quite busy at times but I'm sure your post will be picked up by one of the experts.
