    [Inactive] Your system is infected

Got a bad one. Loaned my computer to a friend and got it back with te subject message. It is a dell running windows XP. The bug seems to have disabled task manager, program removal defender and avg. At one point I think I got indication it was some sort of trajan but it has itself covered pretty well. It also seemed at one point try to go out and buy some sort of av program. I have it disconnected from the network but am almost at the point of running a restore disk. Any and all recommendations most welcome. Cant really run any outside tools as the system is running so slow it is painful.
    Thanks:confused:

as I indicated i can not really download and run dds and hjt I had hoped this might be a familiar probllem and the solution useable off line. If tht is not so please advise e and I will just run the restore disk and go from there

You have to use another working computer to download stuff and then use USB stick, or CD to move downloaded files to bad computer.
