XP start up problems

    I also am unable to perform system restore in any mode. Broni helped me remove some viruses and I have repeated most of the scans he suggested. Not finding any malicious material at this time.

    I thinking hardware - did you test the RAM logically? - jumbling them around does not sound like you did :) Important to bear in mind that faulty slots on the mobo can cause problems rather than the modules themselves.

    I think a hard drive check is in order - use the DOS based diagnostic software from the drive manufacturer to create a bootable floppy/CD .....

    Seagate, Maxtor, Quantum

    Western Digital

    If you don't know the make of the drive download SIW - Hardware > Storage Devices.

    Had the ram tested at local joint. Tested ok. Will try the western digital diagnostic disk. Thanks
