    Hi Sucram

First! Are both of these computers in same Workgroup?

What is the name of the Workgroup and name of both computers?

    Do the below on pc1

Drag mouse to highlight the ipconfig line below then rt click and copy

    ipconfig /all > "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\pc1ipcfg.txt

    Next

    Start-Run
    type
    cmd
click OK to open CMD prompt

Left click in CMD prompt and rt click and paste then hit enter.
    close cmd prompt.

There is now a pc1ipcfg.txt file on desktop. Open copy the contents and paste back to this thread.

Now do the exact same on pc2 with the below line and paste back here also.

    ipconfig /all > "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\pc2ipcfg.txt

Get properties on "Local Area Connection" confirm both "File and printer sharing" and "Client for Microsoft networks" are installed.

Besides the defalt XP Shared folder create a MMarcus Folder on MMarcus and rt click and share it. Do same on RMarcus.

Now dbl click My Network places-View Workgroup computers.
If you do not have "View Workgroup computers" then click Entire Network-Microsoft windows network-Workgroup.

Do you see the computers and shares?

Ok so lets see what does work.

    On mmarcus

    ping mmarcus > "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\mmarcusping.txt
    ping 10.0.0.1 >> "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\mmarcusping.txt
    ping 10.0.0.138 >> "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\mmarcusping.txt
    ping yahoo.com >> "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\mmarcusping.txt

    On rmarcus

    ping tester1 > "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\rmarcusping.txt
    ping 10.0.0.2 >> "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\rmarcusping.txt
    ping 10.0.0.138 >> "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\rmarcusping.txt
    ping yahoo.com >> "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\rmarcusping.txt

Get me the above info, you can paste all 4 lines at once if you want.

This looks like a NetBIOS name resolution problem. So checking things like the computer browser service are working are just the right things to do.

However, also go into the connection properties, and from there the TCP/IP properties. Select the Advanced option. On the next set of screens, go to the WINS tab. Make sure the NetBIOS setting is at either Default or "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP ".

    Hi Surcam

You did confirm all in my post #8?

Ok make note of all the IP, Gateway and DNS settings in case the below clears them.

Drag mouse with left button down the lines below across then paste each line below 1 at a time to an open CMD prompt and hit enter, ignore any errors for now.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
    netsh interface ip delete arpcache

    ipconfig /flushdns

    ipconfig /release *

    ipconfig /renew *

    ipconfig /registerdns

    nbtstat -RR

    netsh winsock show catalog > "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\lsp.txt

    netsh winsock reset catalog

    netsh winsock show catalog >> "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\lsp.txt

    netsh int ip reset > "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\tcpreset.txt

Reboot see new icons on desktop, paste contents of lsp and tcp.txt back to thread.

Recheck network IP GW DNS settings and reset if needed.
    =========================================

    If still no joy!

    Download Dial-A-Fix (DAF)
    http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix#...C_and_articles

Have XP CD available in case DAF needs a file.

Check all boxes on the screen (clear any restrictions if it shows any)
    Then click GO!

When the entire page is finished click the HammerHead at bottom to go to the second DAF page.

    Here do the below

    Repair Permissions

Watch for any File not found or other errors and make note as this may lead to the fix!

    Reboot retest!

    Get back to us.

    Hi Sucram

You did confirm all in my post #8? Yes!

This line did not execute need to paste it again

    netsh int ip reset > "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\tcpreset.txt

And if it does there will be a tcpreset.txt on Desktop to paste back!

Also did you do the Dial-a-Fix?

    Mike

Hi Mike and Thanks again !!!

This line syntax may be misspelled :

One or more essential parameters were not entered.
Verify the required parameters, and reenter them.
The syntax supplied for this command is not valid. Check help for the correct syntax.

    Usage: reset [name=]<string>

    Parameters:

    Tag Value
name - The name of a file to which to append information
    regarding what settings were reset.

Remarks: Resets TCP/IP and related components to a clean state.

    Examples:

    reset resetlog.txt

The Dial-a-Fix run OK. on rmarcus 10.0.0.1 nothing changed .

On mmarcus ( My main comp. )10.0.0.2 it goes to the " GO " scren but when I click GO it does not run .

    I`ve noticed another thing :

When I click " View Workgroup Computers " on one computer it show itself only .

When I click on the other it came with the msg. : " MSHOME is not accessible You may have not PERMISSION ....call Network admin. ...... "

Always the first clicked show itself .

I`ve runed " INTEL PRO SET " diagnostic SEND - RECIVE no failure .
Also Maped Drives are ok. on both comp.s

    Michael .

    Hi Sucram

No the line is correct I tested it here. Must be an issue on your computer.

    1. On the computer that will run DAF go to second page (Hammer) and run

    Reset Networking interfaces

That will do the same as the line that will not work (unless you have other problems).

    2. Not good that DAF will not run on the one computer as I have never seen it not run at all and I have ran it on some really messed up computers.

    3. Confirm that you are using the same workgroup MSHOME on both computers.

    4. Make sure you are using the same account on both computers for the time being and if you do not have a password set one.

If you are using Sucram to log into one computer create an identical account on the other computer with the exact same password.

    Hi Michael

    OK!

We will deal with only 1 Computer at a time!

Do not mention the other computer or try to run the below on it at the same time.

Also please answer my requests in detail like the below questions, which I have asked more than once already.

    1. Confirm that you are using the same workgroup MSHOME on both computers.

    2. Make sure you are using the same account on both computers for the time being and if you do not have a password set one.

If you are using Account Sucram or Michael to log into one computer create an identical account on the other computer with the exact same password.

    3. You did confirm all in my post #8? Yes!

The above 3 items you need to answer for me even tho they apply to both computers.

Not being able to browse while able to access by "RUN : \\IP . Files transfer" and to map drives is not a critical problem but we will fix that anyways later.

Apparently you have several issues as evidenced by your last post so pick one computer and forget the other until I ask you to move to it!

    Fist check for Malware!

Begin do in order presented! And give me back details on what happens at each step.

    1.=======================================
    D/L Xclean_Micro http://www.xblock.com/download/xclean_micro.exe

No install, run it delete all it finds decline to reboot on each item found, until the program finishes then reboot.

Xclean may run minimized and will pop up a window if it finds anything. If it finds nothing it will exit.

Please make a note of what it found if any as this might indicate a deeper Malware diag.

    2.========================================
Get the below install and update then run FULL scan post log

    http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

If it found much the reboot to Safe Mode and run it again then paste s new log for this run when back to normal mode!

    =========================================

    Next Cleanup!

    3.========================================

D/L install and run ATF-Cleaner clear all except passwords in all browsers you have. Run repeatedly until no more found.

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/ATF_Cleaner_d4949.html

D/L and install CCleaner: Clean temps and registry. Run both (temp and registry) repeatedly until no more found.
    http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds get Slim version

    4.=======================================
    Reboot and do the below.

To look deeply at you system:
    D/L RSIT http://images.malwareremoval.com/random/RSIT.exe
Run it post both logs here.

    Hi Mike

    I agree

We`ll deal with 1 computer at a time the comp. is : description : "Master" ,full name : "mmarcus" workgroup : "MSHOME" .

    1. Same workgroup is used on both computers : "MSHOME" .

    2. Same account on both computers : "sucram" , both with same password .

    3. I`ve confirmed Your post #8 in My post #10 : " all 4 services were and are started and auto" .

I`ll start the procedure and post You the logs .

My Time Region is GMT + 2 what is Your`s ?

    Tanks ,

    Michael .

Time is - 4 Eastern time, now is 2 PM.

The last post looks complex but is not. Just do 1 step at a time should take about a hour (because of the XClean and MalwareBytes antimalware).
