    Doubtful. Highly doubtful.

Beyond beta though. The current is RC2 (release candidate 2) and from what I see on the machine I have running it, stable and pretty much problem free.

I had serious problems with RC1 - had to do a reinstall in fact - but RC2 is behaving just fine for me on Xp-pro with NTFS. I updated from SP1 even though it would have been cleaner to slipstream SP2 with XP but wanted to test the route most folks will be using.

Note to prospective users - these are strictly my results and you might not have as good luck with it. I imagine that you would need a good image (ghost for instance) or GoBack to get rid of it if you wanted to.

    Newt,
    Isn't there a $NTUninstall... file with SP2 like there was with SP1?

I have no experience w/Sp2 - but have seen SP1 rolled back via SR - not on my system, and it worked but left a messy Registry behind which I had to clean up with a registry cleaner. I wouldn't recommend it either.

http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=31828 is a thread started by RayH - he uninstalled SP2 but never specifically said how.

    Regards - Charles

I had one good experience and one bad. One machine totally crashed upon reboot and I had to do a repair install.

My test machine is working great and I love the built in pop up blocker.

I'll give ya a heads up. SP2 may have put an end to the illegitimate corporate keys. :D :D :D

My test machine runs the corporate edition with a hacked key. And before anyone jumps on me the legitimate XP Pro is sitting in the drawer right next to the machine. I'm just not going to use it as many times as I reload the test machine.

Charles - there certainly is an uninstall feature. And it did uninstall the SP - mostly. The good stuff (new firewall and some other security features) were removed.

However, the problem I had didn't go away. It did turn out to be a bug in the RC1 version that is fixed with RC2 and won't be a problem with the release version I'm sure.

I had GoBack loaded but didn't notice I had a problem until about day #3 and by that time with all the changes I'd made, no pre-sp restore points left to roll back to.

    Hi
I've found a couple of sites that are well worth a look regarding installation/uninstalling, pros and cons for the xp sp2 updates.
    www.scottsnewsletter.com and also www.woodyswindowwatch.com.
There are plenty of diagrams and instructions also for laptops. :D

    Thanks for all the replies.
I bit the bullet and did a clean install then straight to RC2.
It went well and while not a big XP fan, you gotta at least love the popup stopper.
