I was checking it out. After installation, my drive grew by 2.5 GB! After I turned off the system restore and cleaned a couple of files, I still got 1.2 GB!

I don't know that I had any problems that big! It took it out!

Woody's Watch had a really good plainly written article on XP SP2 earlier today. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be up on the archive yet. The service pack is doing a lot so I'm not suprised it is big - MS seem to have a thing for big service packs nowadays.

I don't think that sounds unreasonable given all the changes. SP1 was about that size.

Not clear on what you mean here about you're having problems; SP2 is about XP's security problems.

Remember that SP2 is still technically in beta, so although at RC2 stage, all bugs may not have been ironed out, and SOME will still be there at release.

But don't think your problem will be related to SP2.

Apparently you were able to uninstall it. I would guess that a lot of the overhead was due to the uninstall files it saved during the installation. Is this possible???

It may have a lot of security stuff. But it seems like a pig. Maybe I'll try it as a slipstream.
