I really have no idea what the difference is. MS naming scheme of some sort, maybe. Those two are the only two that start with Q. The rest of mine all start with KB. Go figure. :)

Just curious. Do you have either one of the two I listed above but perhaps starting with KB instead of Q?

Ms may have done this in order to make any KB article match the patch :).

Microsoft play some strange games - my version of XP - XP Pro + SP 1 plus all critical patches/updates shows on the screen as :

    Windows XP Professional
    Build 2600 xpsp2.030422-1633 (Service Pack 1)

Make of that what you will :) I think the SP2 bit appeared after an update - which one I don't know, but SP2 beta or RC1 has not been anywhere near this m/c.

Well, I have some of those that you have, and others I don't. I suppose some of the differences could be do to the fact that I haven't installed any of the recommended updates. Only the critical ones. Other differences could also be due to the fact that my windows cd came with SP1, and from looking at your screenshot, apparently your's didn't.

I find this odd though. The first one in MnInShdw's list is Q819696 but it doesn't have the SP2 in front of it. I also have that update and mine does have the SP2 in front of it.

You are correct about my XP cd not having SP1 on it. Mine is old- Jan 02. I have installed some "recommended" updates, in addition to the "critical" ones.

There are a number of discrepancies between all of our Updates. Ain't life interesting? :)
