Hi,

No error when I booted up, but, when I was going through your checklist to fix, I did not find the following:

C:\windows\prefetch

and

C:\Documents and Settings\(all usernames)\Local Settings\temp

Mainly on the second one, I couldn't find Documents and Settings at all.

Well, I'm not getting any more errors upon starting my computer!

I need to reset my homepage, but, other than that, everything seems ok.

One more question, at one stage of cleaning this mess up, I chose to backup my stuff and I have it in a folder, should I keep that stuff or delete it?

Sorry, I was a bit rushed to leave earlier so couldn't reply. It really depends upon what all you backed up earlier, but a current backup would be better to have. Should have said earlier that Win 98's counterpart to XP's Prefetch folder is the Applog folder, located in C:\Windows. Delete evrything from it and empty recycle bin. Glad to hear things are working properly again.

Now I have to ask, WHERE'S YOUR ANTIVIRUS?? You should not even be connected to the internet without an antivirus and firewall!! Please, click here and take advantage of the free trial offer. There are some alternative programs here. Also suggest you open Spybot and use the immunize feature. On that page there is a link to SpywareBlaster. Get it and install it also.

What is the best(and simplest) way to do a backup? I got the other one from one of the procedures I did.

I do install a antivirus and run it, but, I don't know alot about firewalls. Will I still be able to send and receive files through Yahoo with it?

Win 98 has a backup feature, but I never used it myself. I backed up my Data, docs., pics, favorites and program setup files (I always put my downloaded setup files in a special folder named Setup Files...original huh? ) by burning to a CD. Might want to pose that question in the Win 98 forum if you don't get a better answer here.

Glad to hear you installed AV and firewall. Yes, you will be able to allow file transfers. The help files that accompany the firewall will answer most of your questions, but if you have trouble with anything, don't hesitate to ask.
