OK that is the correct DNS numbers the ones we deleted were 24.??.??.??

Well the dss shows the system to be clean,

Since we have cleaned all of this and did repair install gave TCP and winsock an enema, the only thing I know to do now is redo the process in post #15 except do it in normal mode not safe mode.

I am hoping that we have removed an issue in the last few steps, or replaced a file with the Repair install, that will now allow WMI to now be repaired.

I hope, I hope! I have been waiting for some real expert to step in and take us out of our misery with some obvious simple fix.

If this don't do it I would like to give up but that is not me. So I will go back and do more research.

    Let me know!

    Mike

OK I am assuming post #15 still did not work!

I will be researching deeper into WMI errors and repair.

Hopefully you have noticed an improvement in performance, bootup/shutdown from all the cleanups and error corrections we have done.

But I need a detailed view of your windows services so please do the below.

Go here D/L WSF and install
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/Windows_Service_Finder_d4669.html

    Then to run
paste the following 2 lines to the CMD prompt then hit enter

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c "C:\Program Files\Windows Service finder\wsf.exe" >c:\wsf.log
    notepad c:\wsf.log

Remember to hit enter before exiting the cmd prompt.

Copy and paste the log back to us.

BTW: What is the status on the Sata drive?

    Mike

Yeah, post 15 still didn't work. I could've sworn I made a post saying that but I guess I was off in crazy-land or something. The SATA drive is also still MIA in Windows, but recognized in the RAID and BIOS.

OK your services look ok, a few that you don't need, but OK! Removing them would give more speed and more free ram.

Were you using the newest WMIDiag from Microsoft?

OK I used some alternative search tools and found this. When you read it the BOLD items like SUBINACL and WMIDiag are the downdoads just click them.

I wish I could condense this for you but I advise that you go thu this post carefully step by step.

I am still searching and found these additional files that can effect WMI.

It is only re-registering so do them anytime.

    Paste all to CMD prompt

    regsvr32 hnetcfg.dll
    regsvr32 netcfgx.dll
    regsvr32 netman.dll
    regsvr32 atl.dll
    regsvr32 netshell.dll

Let me know if any fail.

the subinacl stuff is running from that site, it is taking a while but i'll edit this here post with the information from it when it is done.

    UPDATE:
It is done, and the WMI problem is still present. Going to the next step in the article and reporting back when done.

Okay, I believe I've done everything and the problems are still present. I read about doing a clean install over the top of my regular installation and keeping files and settings, do you think this would work?

Also, if I absolutely have no other possiblities I supposed I can reformat my main HDD and do a clean install, but I'd much rather figure out what is wrong and how to fix it. I can move saves and other things that I absolutely need to keep onto an external HDD.

That has aleady been done twice!

The repair install is what we did in post #52. And you had said earlier that you had done another.

Lets do this, paste the below to CMD prompt and hit enter

    netsh winsock reset catalog

A clean install would likely cure the problem. But your system is fairly complex and you had better have all the things you have installed avaiable.

The time to get all of this back will take much much longer than installing XP clean, that is easy.

There are many things that can effect WMI. Device drivers, Net framework, System temp monitoring etc.

So perhaps we need to get the SATA problem fixed in case it is part of the WMI issue.

And are there any other issues even minor things you have not mentioned.

netsh winsock reset catalog gives me:

"WARNING: Could not obtain host information from machine [JORDAN]. Some commands may be unavailable.

    Successfully reset the Winsock Catalog.
You must restart in order to complete the reset.

(I'm going to go ahead and restart now.)

Restarted, nothing noticably different. Windows Update doesn't seem to work now. Whenever I run it it says:

The following updates were not installed:
    Microsoft Windows Installer 3.1

OK with all we have done that should not have happened.

So run Dia-A-Fix and check all boxes on first page.

Confirm Windows Update works now and get all updates.

Then get back to me with all the info you can on the SATA issue. Motherboard Controller model etc.

Sandra says you have controllers disabled in BIOS confirm they are not SATA.

    OK confirm.

Controller shows in device mng and is active?

There is no entry in Disk management even one that is unformated or unrecognized?

Do you have the SATA Floppy? If not get it from the Motherboard website.

    Let me know.

OnChip SATA is set to enabled and the type is set to RAID, but I can't find my mobo model. The "model" listed isn't on the gigabyte site, sorry if I am missing the obvious here...

Also, the HD didn't come with a disk or anything, and I can't find my mobo CD atm, I'll try looking for it.

EDIT: I tried installing the ALi SATA/RAID Controller (M5289) driver from the driveragent.com link from the gigabyte site that it said I had not installed. I installed it, rebooted, and it still said that it wasn't installed. Could this be the problem?

Yes it could be the problem with WMI.

SATA drivers are not yet slipstreamed into XP SP2.

They require to be installed in the Windows non GUI install environment before Windows loads.

To do this requires another repair install. But this should be done by booting from your CD and not by starting Setup as we did before.

First you need the exact SATA from your Motherboard Mfg drivers on a Floppy.

You then do a repair install at a point it will ask you to hit F6 for special drivers. Nothing will happen right then but a few moments later it will ask for the disk.

Anyways I will help with details after we get the SATA Floppy.

Your Sandra says your model is:

I don't usually trust any one type programs of these to give all the required info so get the below they may give additional info (second opinion):

http://www.gtopala.com/siw-download.html get English Stand alone version

    http://www.psdu505.demon.co.uk/WinAudit.exe

    http://siv.mysite.orange.co.uk/downloads/siv.zip

And of course Belarc Advisor http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

SIV SIW and Winaudit are stand alone and need no install, unzip and run. Belarc requires installation.

Compare their output on your Board and controllers. This should give enough detail pinpoint the SATA drivers.

Okay, looks like I'm going to have to find my CD, which may be a chore since it may have been left somewhere at my parents' house. I'll go look in the other room now and report back.

(The model came up the same on all those, and no amount of googling bits and pieces helped me find it, and the model isn't listed on Gigabyte's site).

EDIT: The disc must still be at my parets' house. Feel free to try to find the drivers. Is there any place in the BIOS I would be able to find the exact SATA controller to find the drivers for it?

EDIT2: I have the SATA drivers that downloaded from the auto-detect link from Gigabyte's site, should we try those?
