It is listed in Control Panel itself - not under Programs and Features - please check.

I would like to point out that MSE also suggests that you sign up for Spynet.
Why not? It's obviously a good thing.

Hello PeteC, I again checked "Control Panel" and under "Programs" viewed all entries shown. Certainly no entry for Microsoft Defender is shown.
Probably, I am looking in the wrong part of Control Panel.

I searched through Microsoft Knowledge Base on line, and read article on Defender.

[MSE is supposed to remove completely if it finds Defender installed. However it may not do so in all cases. If Defender is still installed after you install MSE you can ...... (no further information quoted)].
Well at least, one is left to wonder as to what "you can" do, when you have the answer.

My guess is the article you read refers to Windows XP and Vista. In Windows 7, it's different I suppose because it comes with the OS. It might be integrated in a way that makes it not possible to uninstall it.

For Defender in the control panel, open the control panel and in the upper right corner where it says "view by" choose either small or large icons. You should find it then. It's there under the name (what else? :) ) Windows Defender.

It is a Microsoft initiative and only, so far, collecting info from Defender and MSE.
    Download from Microsoft.

Hello Zander, again you are absolutely correct. I followed your instruction and found Defender icon and that Defender is "OFF ", icon however can not be removed. Information given, is that, running both Defender and MSE is not recommended as it can cause conflicts in the computers running. Thank you.
