windows won't finish booting

When I tried to boot this morning, The computer goes through normal routine but stops right after William Welcome and leaves the keyboard and mouse working. The hard drive blinks intermittently.

I used my retail windows 8.1 disk and went to the repair function and the disk tells me that the drive on which windows is on is locked.

How do you unlock a drive?

 

I know some one who had an acer that was locked and they tried pressing ctrl+alt +delete and she said it worked. I do not know if it will work in your case but it is worth a try. How old is the HDD.

 

I left the mouse cursor onthe screen and went to breakfrast.
I was gone about 30 minutes and when I got back, windows had compleated booting.

I ran malware bytes and it found 16 things. It quarantined them and had to reboot to finish removing the bad stuff.

Now I wonder if this is a case of the computer booting so slow that it takes too much time to completely boot. When I rebooted, It came up as a good boot.

This is too weird for this.

Tis computer is about 3 years old.

I did the 3 fingered salute and I got a screeb with several tings listed. The top one was the word lock. right beside that was an arrow pointing to the left. I clicked on that and it finished Booting. Thanks for the advice.
