Windows Vista [Windows Update not offering SP1]

    am rebuilding a dell machine back to defaults because some dummy really mess the poor machine up badly. when i do the updates it doesnt seem to want to download the sp1 for vista.

    why ??? did i need to download the 400+mb file and do myself ???

    Windows/Microsoft Update will generally not present SP1 to a machine that has some driver issue or other incompatibilities. See this for more details.

    AKAJohnDoe - it found 10 new updates that it wasnt doing before so maybe that will do the trick.

    looks like it did the trick. went back in and click the update button and now it is downloading one update 66.9mb in size. that looks like a sp update.
