    Hi there,

got some problems with my girlfriends laptop, when you turn it on and it's online, it starts downloading windows updates in heaps. When you shut windows down a message comes up "Installing update 1 of 12" and yes it turns itself off after being done, but on the next day, it keeps downloading them again and again, the number of updates being installed on shutdown varies. And those updates keep filling up her hdd, we just deleted some movies und other stuff (2gb) a few days later a low disk space warning came up (only 120mb left on hdd) and she didn't install/downloaded nothing

I turned the auto updates off, but her windows directory is 27gb big and I can't seem to find where it downloaded all the updates to, anyone got any advice ? .. please ? :)

Hi wind, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

FYI the directory that Windows downloads its updates to is in C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribuation/Download. If you are getting low on disk space download and run ATF Cleaner.

Also your Windows directory being 27GB is not normal at all. If you are sure that the same updates are being installed you can try hiding them and having Windows Update not notify you about certain updates.

BTW please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

thanks for the quick answer :)

I've deleted the update files and her windows directory shrinked to 15gb.

    Her system details> Samsung R65 Notebook. Win xp sp3, 1gb Ram, 1hdd@60gb.

Great, now her system works and my desktop keep rebooting itself forever >_<
