It keeps wanting to install the 32-bit version and not the 64-bit version

Yes Win 7 Pro. Readiness tool didn't fix the problem but when I performed a search for KB947821 the search does not find that update. Checked View update history KB947821 is installed twice. I don't think I want to install it a third time and I can't seem to find that update in Uninstall an update. Maybe because it's a Hotfix?

You might try following the instructions in my guide for repairing Windows 7 and see if that solves the problem.

Did you try performing a repair install of Windows 7? If so then your last option would be a clean install of Windows 7 unfortunately.

LJ, you didn't answer my question. I appreciate you posting your system details, but have you tried performing a repair install of Windows 7 yet?

Ended up performing a clean install of Windows 7 Professional. Now it's fixed. Just have to wait hours for windows to check for, download, and then install the updates.
