Cannot find any posts regarding an issue I'm pulling my hair out with.

When starting BACKUP all seems ok. Then 6 hours later I get the message:-

the backup application could not start due to an internal error: Server execution failed (0x80080005).

Also I think there might be a connection with Adobe flash player 10 update. I am asked to upgrade and am told installation success, but on each subsequent use of a program that requires it eg. snapfish quick upload , I am asked to install the adobe flash upgrade.

I have checked many posts and microsoft and can not get any assistance.

Please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions!

Do you have McAfee installed? If so, turn it off & the error will go away.

There are a few reported problems that can cause this.

Check who is the Owner of System Volume Information

You'll have to select Show hidden files, folders and drives from Folder Options > View tab.

Then right-click the System Volume Information folder (which is in the system root drive), select Properties > Security tab, click the Continue button. Check that the SYSTEM owner has all permissions (except Special permissions) checked.

It has also been reported that cleaning up VSS can fix this. To do this, from an Administrative command prompt run vssadmin delete shadows /all.

    Backup

I followed your instructions and system has full control of system volume. I have already cleared the shadow VSS.

I am wondering whether there is a connection between this and Adobe flash player 10 installation. I install the player only to be told by other programs to install it. So it would appear that it is not installed even though control panel add programs shows it is there.

I'll keep looking in the meantime.

No, I doubt it has anything to do with Adobe flash.

Give me a few days while I contact some people...

Have got round the problem unwittingly, I have managed to get adobe 10 working with other applications. I had been experiencing some freezing problem with Internet Explorer and decided to use Mozilla. To this end , with IE 8 removed from my system and Mozilla loaded everything has come good. Don't know whether this is circumstantial or not but it may be of help to you in your analysis.
    Regards
