Do I insert the disc before I turn on my pc and where do I go from there, or after I turn it on, insert the disc after I turn on my pc.
Very confused on how to download the file.
Your help is much appreciated. Thanks!

You should go to your Bios and make sure that the Floppy is the first boot device. Then shut down. Insert Floppy Disc then power on the PC.

I do not have to boot up windows 98, it is on my OS. I just want to know how to open the floppy disc that contains the windows 98se file, so I upgrade my pc.

With the PC booted up, put the floppy disc in and then go to My Computer or Computer and click on the A drive and open it up.

How did you get Windows 98SE on a floppy?
    I have the MS 98SE CD and it's 622MB!
I can only imagine it's a Zip file - you will have to unpack after opening floppy as Mr.Bill stated. Cheers Neil.;)

Neal, I went to Bootdisk.com and put it on the floppy.
It said nothing about a zip file before I downloaded it
    to the disk.
My problem is when I open the disk and look at the 36
different programs on it, like START, EXTRACT, ETC.
I do not know which to open the program with.
I also have zip file on my pc, but do not know how to
    use it with this program.
    Any suggestions?
    Dick

Yes I did check the link in post #4....
Windows 98 OS is already on my pc, I do not need to boot it up. My question pertains to the dowloaded floppy disc with the Windows98SE file.
    Check my post #8

Maybe I am a little dense here. What do you need off of the Disk?

Will check back with you in the morning, have a good night.

Can you provide a link to the download location? It might help knowing what file we are talking about.

No need, we all know what Bootdisk is.

Glen, what you got is a file that will allow you to create a bootable disk. It has nothing else on it. You just have a floppy that will boot your PC to DOS.

You can't get Win98 SE upgrade on floppy.

Hi Glen, As Arie has pointed out I thought it was ambitious to expect 98SE to fit on a floppy.
I have Windows 95 - 98 -98SE - ME - XP Home & Pro all on CD's. I believe 95 & 98 were available on a set of floppies as an alternative means of installation.
You will have to get 98SE Upgrade CD to install over your 98 OS.
That's how I understand it. Cheers Neil.

Spot on Neil, a purchase of 98se is neccessary, Glen may be confusing SE with a Service Pack (freely available). There was no option to freely upgrade 98 to 98 Second Edition*, as far as MS is concerned they are different products.

*Unless of course it was part of the deal when the computer was purchased.

Thanks everyone for your help. I can scrap the Floppy Disc and look for a
    98SE Upgrade CD.

    Good luck with that,

Be aware that any free download of Windows 98 Second Edition (upgrade or not) will not be legal, and even if you are charged the chances are it's of dodgy origin.

Any particular reason why you want to upgrade to 98SE? It's a dead OS (ok in it's last throws of life) and perhaps other more secure options are available to you.
