Can't wait for the RTM to be released

Well I've tested the Beta & the RC on my old gear (Desktops & Laptops), doubt I will upgrade the gear (well maybe a newer Laptop), but I will upgrade the OS, I have read quite a few complaints about win7, but so far I have found little problem, one of my gripes if any? is the constant 'Updating Media Library' slowing the media player down!

    Regards Fagan

The OS should be free, especially if you're running Vista Home Premium.

I agree, it should be free, but it won't.

I've enjoyed Vista from XP. IMO, better than XP. Unless you take a long test drive with Vista and have some power to support it, I can see why everyone is so shy, it's been a fun ride, and most reliable for me. Windows 7 I think will be even better. No offense, but XP reminds me of Windows 95. I'm moving on...

Agreed, I'd like to upgrade to 7 but I'm not paying for something that should be free to Vista purchasers. Essentially it's Vista SP3, I should be able to get it via Windows Update. MS has definitely lost me as a customer on this one. I've been building my rigs and using MS OSs since DOS but it looks like I am switching to Mac for the next one.

I want to buy a quad to increase my crunching capacity for BOINC and WCG. So, when 7 comes out, I will buy my wife a new computer, replace the PIII. She will use the computer, but I will get the crunching capacity I want.

If you still want to build your own rigs, you can always go the Linux route. And there are a few desktop environs that make you feel almost like it's Windows... But this is all assuming you use Windows *because* you enjoy building rigs, and that's what you have to use if you want to go custom...

I am running Windows 7 on an 1.6Gig HP Pavilion with 512 meg of ram. The Microsoft site said it would not work but the only thing it seems to effect is some of the graphics don't have all the eye candy working. I am happy with it so far.

I have gone to Windows & RC at the start of July and I have happily said good-bye for good to Vista. I love the new OS as it has none of the Vista glitches and bugs. It has been smooth sailing for me with only a few minor problems that I managed to iron out. The big thing was having to fine another security suite as Norton Internet Security 2009 does not work with Windows 7.
