new hp computer loaded with windows 7--new outloook 2007 purchased and installed--also new 2007 student ed office installed---Outlook is the default mail program--however nothing happens when I try to send a web page or link with internet explorer. Also after attempting a "send to" outlook shuts down and will not open unless I restart computer--any suggestions?

Check in Control Panel > Programs > Default Programs to see if Outlook is your default. Also check Choose defaults for this program to see if it includes Send mail under MAPI.

I'd try a repair of Outlook.

Select the Help menu from Outlook, then click Office Diagnostics.

If that doesn't work I'd try removing & reinstalling Office.

I called hp support--they say that in order to use send by page or link from web page, you must be running outlook in background if using win 7---oh well--now we know why office student edition no longer includes outlook I guess Anyhow, send from web page does work that way Appreciated your advice and am glad there are such forums

Thanks. I need to remember to ask the obvious :D

Since I have Outlook starting automatically when my system starts & running all the time it is something I didn't consider.

I've marked this thread as 'Resolved'.

    I beg to differ :)

    Win 7 Pro x64 + Outlook 2007 ....

With Outlook closed and this BBS page open - File > Send > Page by email ....

Outlook opens message window with this BBS page in the body - I insert a recipient > Send - Outlook closes.

Message is placed in Outbox and sends when Outlook next opened.

    See this thread ......

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/windows-7/88839-unable-use-send-link-e-mail-ie8.html

As Arie originally suggested a repair of Outlook may be in order.

    Yup, Pete is right!

I need to test all scenarios :)

I used IE's menu item Page > Send Page by E-mail with Outlook closed & it worked fine.
