Resolved Unable to use "Send link as e-mail" from IE8

    I don't know if this is a W7 problem or not, but that's what I'm running (W7 Ultimate).

    If I'm in IE8, I can select an option to "Send link via e-mail" (under the "Page" option). Recently, I've noticed that if I try to do this without Outlook 2003 (my default e-mail program) open, I get no response (other than the "busy" mouse pointer for a second or two). If I then try to load Outlook, no response.

    I've found that there is an "OUTLOOK.EXE" process running. If I kill that process, then Outlook will start.

    Any ideas or thoughts on what is going on?

    I am no expert in Outlook having been forced to abandon OE for Outlook 2007 when I migrated to Win 7 Pro x64 last August.

    However I have no problem sending a link by email when Outlook is closed - watching Task Manager Outlook.exe starts and closes once the mail is sent.

    It would seem that there is a problem with Outlook 2003 not closing after the send rather than with Win 7.

    Have you tried a repair of Outlook 2003?

    OTOH have you considered upgrading to Office 2007 0r 2010 beta courtesy of Technet?

    There are others on the BBS far more familiar with Outlook than I am - hopefully they will respond :)

    My error... I am using Office 2007.... I'll have to consider a repair.... BTW, the e-mail is never sent...
