I didn't build this one - it's HP and almost no literature came w/ it.

Then HP website would be the most appropriate place for you to search.

You can also try Windows inbuilt "Power Options" to figure it out.

I had made a change in the bios power settings last wk, but it made no difference on the assessment score.
Checked HP site and it mentioned the setting I already changed.:(

    Try disabling Cool'n'Quiet in BIOS.

No idea of Tab or Page as each BIOS is different.

    AMD Cool'n'Quiet Technology

RS just read the link you posted, and how will shutting Cool N Quiet off speed things up?

This would disable CPU throttling. It would always run at top speed.

    No harm in trying.

In most of the systems I have assembled, there is no visible difference but on 2-3 it made an impact. Not sure why.

don't mean to highjack chas berlin's thread but that does remind me.

in bios there is something about CPU clock speed (im going by memory here) if i remember its set to x3, i looked at other possibilities it goes up to x8 and there is also "auto ", shouldn't i change that?
also my motherboard has some utilities to manage fan and CPU speed how important is it to install those?

    No problem.
Good questions. I want to hear the answers also.

That's most probably for overclocking. Leaving it at 'Auto' is probably the best choice.

Not very important I guess. You can manage most of these things in BIOS without loading a ton of programs.

ty RS, i didn't think the utilities were important, but always good to ask some1 who would know better, ill double check settings in bios and change to auto if needed.
