Win98 won't recognize XP pro until it dials up and connects

But that's the wierd thing--however and whyever, the Win98 IS connecting to the internet through the XP!

I'm typing this on the Win98 machine. I think it must have something to do with the University's security or whatever that these things won't ping.

In any case, I've connected a half a dozen times this morning from the Win98 and it's worked every single time. It's the greatest. My husband and I can both surf at the same time--such a kick!

Then there is nothing to do, it is complete. I would not bother contacting anyone at the campus.
