Well, there is KB4056891 for version 1703 and KB4056892 for version1709. It's the same update but for different versions of Windows 10.

Good catch! Yesterday, I didn't recheck Windows Update Catalog but on the day I did (28/01/2018), KB4058258 was still in the future.

clif, try that one or KB4057144 if you're still on version 1703!

I checked my LapTop, running Windows 10 Home 64-bit and KB4056892 was installed on 04/01/2018 but to this day, not KB4058258. On 07/02/2018 KB4074595 for Flash Player (labeled 2018-02) was installed.

What happened to "patch-tuesday"? Now, for Windows 7, there are previews of upcoming monthly updates among the optional updates but it seems like on some systems running Windows 10, those get installed no matter what ... ... if it is a Windows 10 issue of the "preview"?

    retiredlearner, are you an "insider"?

Today, after running a manual search for updates on my LapTop, KB4058258 (labeled 2018-01) was downloaded and installed! I don't understand why it wasn't installed at the same time as KB4074595 for Flash Player (labeled 2018-02)?

You, retiredlearner, had "your" update over a week ago. Was that a manual or automatic download/installation?

Is KB4074595 for Flash Player installed on your system and if so, when?

I'm using my laptop at the moment. W10 Home 64bit.KB4056892 (5/01/18) and KB4074595 on 12/02/18.
    Maybe KB4058258 doesn't apply to W10 Home.
Yes, I am an "Insider". W10 Pro 64bit.

Yes, it does but I had to get it by initiating Windows Update manually.

SUCCESS!!!! I am now running version 1709 build 16299.125

    Don't know how but working.

All i did different was plug in everything I had. Windows came in with 13 updates. Mostly
security but 1 for Nvidia and 1 for Linksys. then 1 for 1703 1 for 1709....
Other than that I'm dumb but happy now...

Thanks for all the help and advice, guys.
Take the rest of the day off and have a beer on me!! :D:D:D

    Perseverance pays off again.;):D
My "Insider" comp has been installing the latest build - 17093.1000 - and I'm using it to Post this reply to Christer.
I've just set the laptop to check for updates again and while I've been typing, it has downloaded and is currently installing the KB4058528 cumulative update and is at 34% right now.:)

I assume that you have made a typo, it was KB4058258 ... o_O ... right?

I asked about "insider" since those systems, as I understand it, get updates earlier in the process for "testing" or some other reason.

I forgot to ask in my previous post, did you change the graphics card?

Alright, then maybe it's fair to assume that this swap made it work?

    Christer,

Since that graphics card was the only constant through all the testing, I'm going to say yes for the swap.
And the Feb cumulative just installed with a hitch, I'll mark this as solved and move on to a hardware(?) problem.

Again, thanks for all the help!! :)
