This implies a basic fault - at that stage Windows, graphics drivers do not come into the equation.

I would update/reinstall the chipset drivers, but I doubt that will solve the problem.

As a quick note my father (who taught me computers) suggested it might be a hairline crack somewhere on the MoBo itself? and if so it would need to be re-soldered. Too bad I dont have any experience with that one.

Hairline crack sounds plausible - my conclusion is that the AGP port is defective, which could be caused by a hairline crack.

Sorry, I think you mentioned this earlier.

The chipset drivers issue I believe is where we need to go now.

Troubleshooting is a process of refining.

Wait for PeteC to guide you thru this.:)

But in this, I think also necessary to determine what took the train off the tracks.

This is fabulous mystery movie. Well, kinda.

Figured I would update you guys, I did the chipset update and i still have the aqua tint/hue. I think the red channel on my MoBo has gone out. Guess I need to find a soldering expert and start looking at the circuits.

RATS!!!! But do you get the prize for hanging in with keen intelligence, fabulous attitude and tenacity. Plus, you are ow on yr way to puttig this right!

Soldering is not difficult, my dad taught me. Only tried it once on a mobo--lappy-- to reattach a connection I hadda break to just get the bezel off the base.... and took me 6 mos to recover. lol

Issue here too is the annoyance of removing everything to remove the mobo to fix the mobo.

Note: the repair in question above I did for a friend...I hung in and found a replacement mobo on ebay for small money. As opposed to what sites asked for a new one. It was a pull, but from reliable vendor I emailed re testing it, etc.

I wonder, given yr dad's level of expertise, if you guys might not give that a try just to see what you can find????

U start repairing a big integrated circuit board....I dunno. might be more cost and time efficient to find a good, healthy replacement?

Yet another reason I would not build my own rig. Update-customize seriously, yes, Build no.

But see the progress you have made this?????? I mean that's huge!!!!:D

You have tried everything else why not try a System restore to an earlier point in time. If that don't work you can always undo the restore. if you tried this already then please accept my apologies.

It does now appear the issue has been identified and is probably the board which is in need of repair.

It was a suggestion, it's technology its not etched in stone. It may or may not work. I just thought i would throw it out who knows it could work and possibly save him some money.

lj, a system restore shouldnt effect the Bios/start up screen.

Jilly, I would get to soldering it, but I live in Texas, my father lives in Washington State, I cant be without a cmputer for the few weeks it would take to mail to him, hav him fix and then have it mailed back to me.
