ok ... got ... have cloned my HD ... poised ... bit nervous about this ,as read lots comments in forums about failures, apps not working ,system probs, et al , as a result of applying SP1 ...

    b4 i do this , i wud like to ask about the SP1 ...
apart from W7 fixes , patches , and so in ,does KB976932 also include and apply security updates of the type usually we get via WUpdate ?
if so, would the SP1 include old WUpdates that were in vogue back when SP1 was released ,and, if so , would it apply them now ,and in doing so then overwrite , negate ,conflict with ,the many WUpdates i have been able to do without SP1 ,ie up until August 2013, and which now exist in my W7 system at the moment ?

    thanks

You shouldn't have any problems as any Patches already applied will stay in place and duplicates in KB976932 will not be applied. The bootom line - keep up to date. Neil.

Yeah as Neil said you won't have any conflicts as any updates that you installed most likely didn't require SP1 at all so any updates that you would install after SP1 would require SP1 to be installed first as a prerequisite.

hi guys .... made sure my hd was virus-free , 100% cloned both partitions to my backup internal hd , read all the blurb at M$oft about how-to et al { u can tell i am a Capricorn eh :D } ...

created a Restore point { just to be sure } ... and ran the SP1 ... after a lengthy install process , "failed" , it tried again , same result ...

closed down ... rebooted ,waded thru Event Viewer and so on ...

hunched it ,and disconnected my internet so i cud turn off my non-Windows firewall ,and via Task Manager i closed every lurking app, including my Virus protection { which i felt , from previous experiences , was probably the cause } ...

    yippeee ... success ...

System now shows as SP1 ... altho not in the Ctrl Panel -Programs installed ? nor in Update History ??

am checking all my apps before i start to install all the updates of which i am now notified , many of these not for me ,eg foreign language updates , .NET 3.5 ,when i am .NET 4.1 , update to enable update to Win8.1 ( !! NEVER !! ) ..

will need a few days to complete the audit of my SP1 compatabilities , but so far looks gud ...

thanks guys for the help and advice on this ..

    ;)
