Why can't Members be bothered to participate in the forum activities? Poor show you lot - unless you voted, of course :)

That makes sense. I haven't had unlimited access to a compressor since my grandfather's machine shop (former family business) went under after he died. As for inline filters, ain't it amazing how much water a dryer stops?? I worked in another shop and they had an unGodly amount of condensation in the compressor that they didn't bother to drain. On top of that, I had to get my own dryer/filter or else my hand-held grinders would have been in the sorry shape that the ones owned by the company were. But I digress...

I've been amazed several time by folks (even experts I respected) come back and tell me I was being irresponsible for suggesting air compressors, stating they should never be used on electronics because of the moisture and contaminants. Of course that is simply not true as compressed air has been used in electronic repair facilities for decades and when I reminded them bakeries use compressed air to "air brush" cakes, make-up artists air brush faces, and even their dentists use compressed air to dry their teeth, they go, "Oh yeah, didn't think about that!" Oh well, stop digressing me. ;)

I bought a compressor specifically for the purpose of blowing out my pc. Best thing I have done :)

I hope you got an in-line filter for it.

Not yet. Used it at least half a dozen times with no problem. I know that condensation is formed in the tank, but so far I have had zero problems.
I think that is more of a problem with a continuously running compressor, than with one that runs only a few minutes.
I take the PC outside to blow it out and any condensation that may be in the line evaporates fairly quickly.

Anyway, hopefully nobodies pc looks anything like these; http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/11/13/ventblockers/

That speeds it up but it does not have to be continuously running. The compression process heats up the air and when it cools in the tank, condensation forms. You need to get a filter before using it again on electronics. Evaporation does not make it okay. There are oils and other contaminants coating the inside of the tank (even with an oil-less compressor) that do not evaporate away. Some filters are less than $25.

Well it's done. I blasted and brushed the **** load of dust and dog hair out of my PC. I figured it was time seeing as I am going to change some hardware and do a fresh install of the OS.
