No the instructions in the manual, which I have now downloaded do not have those instructions. They are a little over my head. I think I will have to abandon this project and stick to my Windows rescue disk.

Yes I'm having trouble getting into the Bios and when I did stumble into it once I honestly didn't know what I was doing, so I left it alone.

    Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi rsinfo, When you set the action to create an emergency/recovery disc - you automatically download from MS the WinPE files.
Hence my Post with the link advising problem with WinPE CD/DVD/USB inability to 'boot' because of the lack of the boot.wim file.
Alicia should be able to enter BIOS by using the appropriate keys ie.
    Del, F2, F12 at Startup.
If she can't - this is an entirely different problem. Neil.

As a side note, I did get into the BIOS once although I tried so many keys I'm not sure which one worked. I don't know how to change boot order. I also read in manual that I have to disable boost booter to have it be able to boot from a CD. Since I don't have a good understanding of how to change settings in the BIOS I decided to leave well enough alone.

Hi Alicia, When your comp is 'booted' do you see the "Logo Screen" or the "Post screen "?
I have a Manual for my Gigabyte Motherboard Model GA-970A-D3 and it shows on the bottom of the screen when the comp is booting whether either screen is displayed.
The moment you see a screen > press F12 > Boot Menu > I can't remember how it displays options but your hard drive may be shown by it's type number and CD/DVD may be shown by brand name.
You use the up and down arrows to shift what you want to the top of the list > then hit Enter key.
That becomes the 1st. item to start.
When you boot the comp and the Logo/Post screen shows (even before this won't hurt) Tap DEL key and you will enter BIOS.
Just follow the instructions that are shown to work your round BIOS so that you become familiar with negotiating your way through it. ESC key takes you from one operation to the start of the next. etc etc.
F10 key will always take you to exit from BIOS. You are presented with a menu which is pretty standard for all BIOS's where you can Save the changes and Exit - Load Failsafe - Load Optimized -.
You just click on Save changes and Exit or Don't save and Exit.
If you have your Motherboard Manual it's all explained in there. Neil.
    Page 46 of the Manual:
    Hard Disk Boot Priority
Specifies the sequence of loading the operating system from the installed hard drives. Use the up or
down arrow key to select a hard drive, then press the plus key <+> (or <PageUp>) or the minus key <-> (or
<PageDown>) to move it up or down on the list. Press <Esc> to exit this menu when finished.
The Manual in Pdf is here:http://download1.gigabyte.ru/manual/mb_manual_ga-h55m-ud2h_e.pdf if you haven't got one.

Thank you for writing all that information. I don't see a boot screen just before windows loads as I have on other PCs I've had. There's probably a way to change this. I believe this is the screen that would show me what keys access what.

I have yet to find the motherboard manual on the website for my Asus EeePC 1215N netbook. I have an email into Asus support so I'll ask them for it. I looked in your manual and found a page for the boot menu.

The one time I did get in to the BIOS I tried the +- keys and they didn't work even though that's what it said to use. Perhaps page up or page down would have done the trick.

There is something called a boot booster which I have read needs to be disabled before being able to boot from a CD. The manual I did download from Asus is the user manual. It shows how to disable it but does not have anything else about BIOS in it.

I'll have a closer look at the manual you gave me a link to. Thanks

    Added later:
I discovered that F2 to get in BIOS setup only works after you shutdown the computer not a restart. Once I got in there I made changes necessary and booted up from emergency WinPE disk.

Thanks again everyone for your help.

Alicia, I provided a link to Gigabyte as that was the comp specs in your System Details. The laptops/Notebooks/Netbooks usually have Function keys variations
    specific to the Brand.
When trying to get into BIOS - you need to prepare in advance and make sure you know the Key sequence required. Once you Start the comp/laptop/notebook you can start tapping the appropriate key immediately.
You may hear a beep or two but no harm is done. You may also have setting not to display Logo - hence the need to start tapping your DEL / F1 / F2 / F12 key ASAP.
Sorry I didn't provide the correct link as I didn't realize you were talking about your Netbook. (Senior moment - Brain fade or something.) :D Neil.

No problem on the link Neil. It turned out that the magic key was F2 to get into Bios setup. I then disabled boot booster and changed the boot order and it booted fine from the WinPE CD I made.

Good to know you've sorted things out. I recently had my W8.1 HDD start to fail, so I downloaded a Clone program called AOMEI. http://www.backup-utility.com/free-backup-software.html
I found it very easy to use and I completely cloned my W8.1 from a spinner to a new 240GB SSD. Everything went smooth as and it was easy to use the program.;)Neil.
