I am at a friends house. He has a Gateway with 16GB HDD space and 256MB RAM. He hasn't had any virus protection or spyware protection in a while. But recently he has not been able to access secure (https) web sites. No problem accessing other sites. I set the security level in "trusted sites" to medium and added his banks https site url to the list but he cannot access it. I tried my bank with the same result.

I am running Spybot and will get a good free av for him but I am stumped.

    Any help will be appreciated.

I think I figured it out, of course I would after I got home, I remember looking at IE6 info and I am pretty sure it said 56 bit encription. I thought ie6 sp1 came with 128 bit encription. will have to check it out tomorrow.

ok, re-installed IE6 and downloaded SP4 for W2K Pro. One of the two fixed the problem. IE6 now shows 128 bit encription and he can access his secure sites.

Guess I should have waited before posting.

    Problem solved.
