I am hoping you guys can help. A laptop running Vista HP was recently compromised by a Myspace link. The vector seems to have been a program called AV8. I am a web designer and networking tech with a lot of delousing experience, but this one has me stumped.
I have run combo fix, MalewareBytes and a handful of other utilities to remove this with no luck.
    As it stands now:
AVG 9.0 with currents defs findsr adload_r.ajk and lists it as inaccessible.
Combo fix stalls on 'rootkit activity detected' then resumes on restart but catches nothing.
SuperAntispyware detects a handful of tracking cookies but nothing of real interest.
MalewareBytes reports all clear as well.
Browsers are still affected by the so called 'google-redirect'
I had to return the laptop today, but I will pick it up again to work on over the weekend. I am trying to avoid a reinstall of OS as the user is not confident about backups and software installers.
    Thanks for any insight!
