[Active] Virus blocking system restore and Internet

I know very little about computers, so pardon me If I make any mistakes in describing some of the technical aspects of my problem. I have a IBM with window XP professional and think that I have a virus. Whatever is wrong with my computer will simply keep Internet Explorer and Mozilla from opening for about 5 minutes and then they open with an error message saying something along the lines of "firefox cannot find the server at www14.yoog.com ". I tried to run a system restore but when I try to click ok to start it, the program doesn't run. The button appears to depress but nothing happens. It also causes disk defragmentation to not function.

Limewire however, yes now I know that Limewire is not very safe, still has internet access and I'm able to download music off of it. I have Windows Live One Care but it is being blocked from opening.

I would be very grateful if anyone could attempt to help me fix my computer and I thank you for your time.

I'm really not sure what to do because I can't transfer the DDS to my other computer, because whatever I have blocks my computer from reading USB storage devices.

[Update]: I have tried resetting my winsock and flushing DNS to no avail.
