    Hi Dee
    OK good

    Please do the following.

Click Start > Run in the run box copy and paste or type ComboFix /u then hit Enter to uninstall ComboFix and remove the files/folders it created. This action will also reset the System Restore points, removing any infected files there as well.
Please check and verify that C:\Qoobox and C:\ComboFix folders were removed, as well as the C:\ComboFix.txt file. If they weren't please delete them manually.

    Now lets run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware (MBAM) from here or here and save the file to your desktop.

Double click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
    • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
    • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
    • Once the program has loaded, select 'Perform Quick Scan', then click Scan.
    • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
    • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
    • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
    • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See Note below)
    • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
    • Post the entire report in your next reply.

Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

    Thanks
    Geri

    Geri,
Did the Hijackthis and the ATF cleaner. Ran the Kaspersky and before I could save the report, my husband decided to use his computer and closed it out. Now I'm having a problem bringing up Kaspersky, I cannot get the accept button to highlight so I can advance. Just wanted you to know I wasn't slacking on my end. Thanks for all your help.
    Dee

    Hi Dee
    OK please do this.

Go to Add/Remove programs and delete Kaspersky web scanner.

Do a scan only with HJT and fix this entry

    O16 - DPF: {0EB0E74A-2A76-4AB3-A7FB-9BD8C29F7F75} (CKAVWebScan Object) - http://www.kaspersky.nl/scanforvirus...an_unicode.cab

Reboot the computer and then try Kaspersky again.

    Thanks
    Geri

The software giving those "results" is, in fact, the infection. Those other infections don't actually exist. It's trying to fool you into buying their scumware. Don't fall for it. Combofix was a good recommendation. Malwarebytes and SD Fix might not hurt in this circumstance either.

    Hi Dee
    Is he using AOL?

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore "), please delete these folders (if present):

    C:\Program Files\MyWebSearchWB

    Hi Dee
Ok no more pop ups though, right?

Lets see what we can do to try and speed it up.

These do not need to be running in the backround.

Open HJT and put a check next to them and click fix checked.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ISUSScheduler] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe" -start
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [PhotoShow Deluxe Media Manager] C:\PROGRA~1\Nero\data\Xtras\mssysmgr.exe
    O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE

Now go here and look through this.
Here is a web page that may help speed up your computer by miekiemoes. She has some very good suggestions.

    Geri,
Did everything you advised. Read the article, most of the things suggested I do in my routine care on all our computers. This computers is older than the laptops and is slower and we may be noticing it more. I am getting no more popups. Anything more I need to do. Thanks for your help.
