    Hi,

Recently the fonts have got bigger in my IE, especially in Gmail, Ebay and some sites. I think I have spyware/malware in my system. I have used Adware and Spybit to clean the bugs, but the problem still is there. Please help.
    Many Thanks - Jay

To adjust the size of the font, in IE, if using the Command Bar, go to Page>Text Size or, if using the Menu Bar, go to View>Text Size and try the various sizes until you find one you like.

Alternately, if you're using a wheel mouse, you can hold down one of the Ctrl keys on the keyboard and spin the wheel until the text is the size you want.

    Welcome to the BBS! :)

Internet Explorer isn't my default browser, but today I upgraded from IE8 to IE9 and noticed the same thing you describe. I "fixed" it by using the Tool icon in the upper right-hand corner and selecting Zoom. The default setting is 100% and I first tried 75%. That made the fonts a little too small, so I experimented with a few other settings until I settled on 92%. Try that. Good luck.

Thanks, I did try previouly the zoom option and the text size option but it did not work and go back to the original.
BTW - this also messed up my Outlook 2007.
Any other help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi jayponn, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

Try this, Right click an area on the desktop and click properties. The Display Properties window will open. Under the appearance tab and under Font Size make sure normal is selected. When done ok to close the window.

Have you tried changing the resolution of your monitor to see if that makes any difference?

Large fonts are unlikely an indication for Malware, you'd have other problems if you were infected.

You didn't indicate that you tried the suggestion posted by Miz.

Last resort would be an IE settings reset: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab and press the button Reset under Reset Internet Explorer settings.

Yes, I did try what Miz suggested, it did not work.
Your last resort, my internet settings has Restore to factory defaults, is this what you mean.
    Thanks for the help.

You should upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 as soon as possible. IE6 is full of security holes and your computer is more vulnerable to being infected with malware as long as you have it installed.

Download and install IE8 from here, Internet Explorer 8.

    Hi,
Saw other thread about this problem also being in Outlook 2007.
Not sure what operating system you’re using but if XP check these 2 things.

Start - Control Panel –Accessibility Options – Display Tab
    Is Use High Contrast checked?
If it is either uncheck it or change the High Contrast scheme.

Rt click on desktop – properties – settings tab – Advanced button
DPI setting. Is Normal size (98 DPI) selected?

ps - reboot after making any changes - sometimes changes don't completly take effect until you do

    There's your answer!

Upgrade to IE8, then head over to our Malware and Virus Removal forum, and have your system checked.

    Read this post.
